~Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi and Mr. Sudhakar Sonawane, Mayor of Navi Mumbai promote Inorbit Mall’s eye donation initiative, in association with Advanced Eye Hospital & institute (AEHI) & One Vision foundation~
Mumbai, January 2016 – Take me away from the dark, show me the light is a plea made by every person suffering from corneal blindness. It has become essential to spread awareness about blindness and importance of eye donation. With a view to spread the message Inorbit Mall in association with Advanced Eye Hospital & institute (AEHI) & One Vision foundation organized one of the biggest walkathon against blindness, “Tamaso Ma Jyotir Gamaya”, on 17th January 2016. The rally was flagged off from AEHI, by Mr. Sudhakar Sonawane, The Mayor of Navi Mumbai & Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi. The other dignitaries present at the event were Shankar Mahadevan, Bollywood composer and playback singer and Mr. Prabhat Ranjan, Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai.
The corporate social responsibility initiative hosted by Inorbit mall witnessed 10,000 people participating in the rally and with the largest human eye formation of more than 1200 kids, Inorbit made its way to the Limca Book of Records. RJ Archana from Radio City hosted the event and sensitized people towards this cause.
Apart from the rally there were other entertaining performances by Carlyta, Zumba dance, Gatka performance.
Expressing his views on the need to spread awareness on eye donation, Mr. Puneet Varma, AVP, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Inorbit Malls said, “Studies have revealed that 285 million people are estimated to be visually impaired worldwide out of which 80% of all visual impairments can be prevented or cured. This issue has been a serious concern and it is our responsibility to bring this to light. Inorbit has taken a step towards eradicating blindness by hosting the largest rally to educate people about importance of eye donation. We are thrilled by the massive support of people pledging for eye donation.”
