$28 million up for grabs for Indian gamers thanks to egamers Arena

The new year brings cheer with some unprecedented opportunities for Indian Pro Gamers. For the first time ever in the history of Indian competitive video gaming (eSports) Indian Pro Gamers (athletes) will get a chance to participate in championship across video games like DOTA2, League of Legends, CS:GO, Overwatch etc and a chance to win upto $28 Mn thanks to the deal signed by eGamers Arena recently.

eGamers Arena (eGA), an eSports start-up that works out of 91springboard’s coworking space in Gurgaon, also runs Indian League Gaming (ILG), signed an exclusive Strategic Partnership with World Cyber Arena (WCA) on December 9th 2016 in Yinchuan, China. This was done during the WCA Global eSports Summit which gathered delegates from more than 30 eSports organizations from 20 countries & regions across the world.

This partnership gives eGA the exclusive rights to host National WCA Qualifiers in India and the winners will be able to participate in WCA Region Qualifications. eGA will also have the right to select and send one Team directly to WCA Grand Finals to be held in China this year and in future. “China leads the eSports industry and quality of their players & infrastructure is unmatched; eGA in its quest to bring the best opportunities and exposure for the Indian gaming community, has been in discussions with WCA for quite a time now and in December’16 these discussions concluded with WCA & eGA Partnership” said Ashish Bhatia – CoFounder of eGA.

“This partnership will not only help bring experience for existing Indian pro teams but will also help in the inflow of a new set of talent pool, which is the need of the hour. Apart from the talent, this will also lead to inflow of investments in the form of Sponsors/Team Franchises etc” said Lokesh Suji – Chief Gamer & Founder of eGA.

The eSports industry in India is at an inflection point and has immense potential with approximately 9-10 Mn Serious gamers and overall gaming community of 200Mn (including the casual gamers). In 2016, approx Rs. 38 lacs was won by Indian gamers across various tournaments like IeSC, Dew Arena, Taiwan Excellence Cup, ROG Masters, Zowie Asia, ESL etc.
