The Alumni of IIMC come together for an exciting Reunion at Connections 2018

Winners of IFFCO IIMCAA Awards 2018 to be announced during the alumni meet

New Delhi, 17th Feb 2018: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication Alumni Association (IIMCAA) will announce the winners of its ‘IFFCO IIMCAA Awards 2018’ during the 6th annual alumni meet – IIMCAA Connections 2018, which will be held on Sunday, 18th February at IIMC HQ in New Delhi. With the motto of communicating through its annual meet, the IIMCAA emphasizes on creating a bond between the ex-students, current batch and the faculty. IIMCAA Awards also recognises the achievements and contribution of IIMCians in mass communication industry as well as in the society.

IFFCO IIMCAA Awards 2018 will focus on three different categories which are Reporting, Production and Advertising & Public Relations. A total of 21 awards are divided into these three categories. After the huge success of IIMCAA Awards 2017, the Alumni Association has increased the no. of awards to 21 from 10 this year. With the addition of new awards, the entries have also increased to 114 from 72.

Speaking on the 6th Annual Alumni Meet, Mr. Suresh Kumar Vashishth (EJ 1994-95) – President, IIMCAA stated: “IIMCAA Connections has grown leaps & bounds since its inception in 2013. It has become an annual mega-event for IIMC Alumni, which they don’t want to miss. Through this platform, we have reached to many new alumni from different fields, such as journalism, public relations, entrepreneurs, bureaucracy, academics, govt. bodies, etc.”

Mr. Vashishth further added: “The Alumni Association has spread its wings to all corners of our country as well as nations like the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore and Uzbekistan. As India was the leading nations of Non-Aligned Movement, IIMC has taught hundreds of international students through its Developmental Journalism course. The ex-students still cherish their days at IIMC and wish to be associated with the institute. Our aim is to re-connect with them and establish international chapters in Africa, Latin America, Europe and Asia. IIMC is now a global media institute and confluence of alumni from all walks of life will enhance the brand IIMC”.

Commenting on the 2nd IFFCO IIMCAA Awards, Mr. Ashish Chakravarty (EJ 1992-93) – Convenor, IIMCAA Award said: “IIMCAA Awards will be a very prestigious award in mass communication  sector in coming years. We have received positive response from our alumni fraternity last year and after seeing their enthusiasm, we have increased the no. of awards to 21 from 10 this year. After the announcement of new awards, we have also seen a rise of 37% entries for the IIMCAA Awards, which is very encouraging.

This year, IIMCAA has also introduced – ‘Alumni of the Year Award’ and ‘Public Service Award’ to recognise the voice of those, whose work made noise. They are the silent protagonists who are setting the standards high in the mass communication industry. “‘Alumni of the Year Award’ will honour the work of one such alumnus which speaks volumes and is remarkably impactful. ‘Public Service Award’ will be presented to the one, whose contribution to the society is unique and developmental on the whole. Their work will definitely inspire the generations to come,” Mr. Chakravarty added.

To appreciate rural & agriculture reporting, Agriculture Reporting Award has the highest cash prize of Rs 51,000, while Rs 21,000 is the cash prize for other awards.

Every year, the alumni association of the prestigious mass communication institute has been organising the alumni meet on the third Sunday of February since 2013 to connect all the alumni who work and live in various parts of the country. A number of alumni will visit the campus with their families making the event all the more interesting.

Post the award ceremony the event had exciting networking activities such as Tweetathon Contest, Random Quiz, Travel Talk, and more. The institute will showcase LIVE telecast of India-South Africa T20 match at the venue, which will start at 6:00 pm. The gala dinner in the evening provided a great opportunity to network followed by a DJ night. The annual meet ensures to build the alumni community into a stronger movement every year.
