Aptech Attests’ Digital Assessment Helps Mahagenco Scout For Talented Engineers

Over 1 lakh aspirants appear for the recruitment test held to fill 650 vacancies of engineers in the state run utility company

Mumbai, 27th April, 2017: To fill 650 vacancies of Junior Engineer and Assistant Engineer, the state run utility company – Mahagenco (Maharashtra State Power Generation Co. Ltd), recently tasked the global test and assessment expert, Aptech Attest to conduct online tests to scout for talented resources while ensuring complete transparency.

Mahagenco is one of the most sought after state run utility company and it was a mammoth task for us to create unique papers for each candidate utilising data analytics. The whole process from scrutiny of forms to announcing the final test result was done is a very short time and in an error-free environment.

Over 1 lakh aspirants appeared for the exam, which was held for over two days in four shifts in approximately 86 centres spanned across 22 cities in Maharashtra. To ensure complete transparency and ethical test environment, Aptech used data analytics to ensure each candidate is delivered a totally different test than any other aspirant taking the test.

Neeraj Malik, Executive Vice President, Aptech Ltd, said, “The government has already spelt out that digital assessment is going to be critical part of higher education with the proposal of one agency to conduct all examinations. To ensure total transparency and proper assessment of the strengths of candidates, digital assessment can play a pivotal role. Contrary to traditional test assessment methodology, digital assessment offers a tangible way of assessing an individual’s skills and core knowledge and skills suited for a particular role and how they would fit within an organisation. The fact that each vacancy in Mahagenco witnessed around 154 applicants is testimonial to the complexity involved in process. We are glad that the test was not only conducted in a transparent and ethical manner but also that the tests were assessed and aspirants were informed of the results within three days!”

Vinod Bondre, Executive Director, Mahagenco, said, “Mahagenco is one of the biggest employers in the state. The world is moving towards standardized tests and online assessment systems. We wanted to find the best talent while ensuring total transparency and unbiased approach to the selection in a timely manner. In line with the Digital India mission set by the government, Aptech offered the opportunity to set up an intrusion-free mechanism through which we could assess the skill and knowledge of over 1 lakh applicants.”
