London, February 17th 2016 – ARCHOS announces that the first technology milestones on the PicoWAN network have been met and the first connections are operational.

“Last year, ARCHOS presented the PicoWAN network. This year we will take advantage of MWC in Barcelona to present the innovative operational structure of the network.” claims Henri Crohas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ARCHOS.

PicoWAN : an operational LPWAN network based on LoRA™

PicoWAN, subsidiary of ARCHOS, is a LPWAN (Low-Power Wide-Area Network) network for the Internet of Things. Based on the LoRa™ wireless communication technology, this innovative network can connect objects that are kilometers away.

Created thanks to PicoGateways (very low cost smart plugs that connect to the internet) installed inside buildings, the PicoWAN network can be densified at will and penetrate everywhere deep indoors with a superior Quality of Service while covering very large geographical areas. This gives a definitive advantage over other LPWAN solutions.

Picowan is a collaborative network, where each user participates in the construction of the network. Paris and its suburbs will be the first geographical areas to be covered: the network will be available to all in these areas by the end of 2016.

ARCHOS will present the PicoWAN network during the MWC in Barcelona, booth 1G29, Hall 1.

About PicoWAN
PicoWAN is a team gathered around Henri Crohas, founder of ARCHOS, whose goal is to build by the end of 2016 the first collaborative, global and viral LP-WAN network. This network will be the densest in geography in Europe and the most competitive.
