ARMY CHIEF VISITS JAIPUR

General Bikram Singh, Chief of Army Staff visited South Western Command on 22-23 Sep 2013. During his two days visit to the Command HQ, he interacted with Lt Gen Gyan Bhushan, GOC-in-C South Western Command and was briefed on various operational aspects pertaining to South Western Command. He expressed his satisfaction on the operational preparedness of the Command. The COAS also interacted with officers in the station.

The COAS, who is also the Colonel Commandant of 61 Cavalry located at Jaipur, visited the unit on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee Celebrations (HAIFA Day) on 23 Sep 2013. 61 Cavalry is the only Horsed Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army. The Regiment has 39 Battle Honours and was awarded one Padma Shri and 10 Arjuna Awards, in addition to others service awards. The COAS addressed all ranks of the battalion in a Special Sainik Sammelan and later interacted with them over tea.
