Best of India’s packaging machinery sector honoured with PacMachine Awards 2017

 

New Delhi, September 22, 2017: The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) – the central apex body for promotion and packaging standards – announced the PacMachine Awards2017 based on the presentations made by the entrants on first week of September at the IIP headquarters in Mumbai. Among the 12winners were, Ace Industries, Alpla India Private Limited, Electronic Devices Worldwide Pvt Ltd, FAG Bearing India Pvt Ltd (Group Company Schaeffler India), Hassia Packaging Pvt Ltd, Impel Services Pvt Ltd, Jyothy Laboratories Ltd, Mamata Machinery Pvt Ltd, Minipack, Signode India Ltd, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd and VyomaInnovus.

The PacMachine Awards were introduced in 1992 to recognise the achievements of the packaging machinery sector in India and to promote their efforts.The award endeavours to honour excellence in innovative concepts related to design and development in packaging machinery particularly for import substitution and for promoting exports. In India, the packaging machinery sector comprises of Packaging Converting Machines, Product Packaging Machinesand allied equipments.

The grand jury that selected the winners comprised of eminent personalities from institutions and government bodies alongside industry experts including Dr. N. C. Saha, Director-IIP, Prof. Nitin Gulhane, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, VeermataJijabai Technological Institute (VJTI), Mumbai, Prof. Kannan N. Iyer, Professor, Mechanical Engineering Division, IIT Mumbai, Mr. Abhay Bhargava, Renowned consultant and Dr. M .M. Bhoomkar, Associate Professor, PVGs‘ College of Engineering & Technology, Pune.

Dr N. C. Saha, Director-IIP, said, “We are extremely happy with the response that this year’s PacMachine awards have received. The nominations received were of the highest quality and this just goes on to show that these awards are one of the most premium recognitions in the field of packaging machinery. Many of the Indian packaging machinery manufacturers are well known for producing some sophisticated machineries. Overseas buyers come to India because of the flexibility of the market in manufacturing and the price of equipment. On behalf of IIP, I would like to thank the jury for choosing and recognising the best of talent in the field.” 

The awards will be given away to the winners at a glittering function to be held on October 28 at New Delhi in concurrence with ‘INDIAPACK 2017’ & ‘International Summit for Packaging Industry (ISPI) 2017’. The function is scheduled to be attended by industry stalwarts, previous award winners, government representatives and foreign delegates.

Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) is an autonomous body in the field of packaging and working under the administrative control of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The Institute was established on 14th May, 1966 with its headquarter and principal laboratories in Mumbai. The Institute set up its first branch office at Chennai in 1971, followed by branches at Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad in 1976, 1986 and 2006, respectively.
