Celebrating Eid with Those In Need

Those In Need co-partnered with The Goodwill Tribe to host the event ‘Letter Earthlings – Happy Ramadan Cards’.

The idea was to write letters, wishing a happy Eid to everyone and then distribute them at Jama Masjid. Those In Need has believed that each and every festival was of utmost importance and India being a secular country needs more of such acts in order to educate our young minds from the beginning about our diversity.  With that in mind, Those In Need wanted to focus on the written emotions and expressions which stay with people throughout their lives, with Ramadan being the topic this time.

Those In Need and The Goodwill Tribe have joined hands multiple times before for conducting such letter writing events in Delhi-NCR.

Around 300+ children from Pehchaan – The Street School joined Those In Need team for the event. Everyone gathered at the school near Indraprastha Metro Station at around 3pm.  Amidst laughter and curiosity, the team discussed with the children about the significance of Ramadan and how it is celebrated. Saloni, a student of the Pehchaan school said, “Ramadan mein hum ek mahine tak fast karte hain, mithai khaate hain, sabki madad karte hain aur ache kaam karte hain”( Ramadan is a month long period where we fast till evening, eat sweets, help everyone and do good deeds). The required stationery was distributed among the children for them to make Ramadan cards which resulted in more than 100 beautiful cards. This was an enriching experience for all who were a part of it. Akash, the founder of Pehchaan School said, “Since the starting we have seen how these children were taught to discriminate people on the basis of caste, with this event we tried to break that mindset & teach them the message of love & equality”. Tanaaya, a volunteer of Those In Need added,” It was such an informative event for the children and even for us”.

Moreover, on the 15th of June, the letters will be distributed at Jama Masjid by Those In Need team and they also invite people volunteering to distribute these letters with them.

Those In Need team wishes everyone a happy Eid and believes that Ramadan is the perfect time for our giant, beautiful outpouring of appreciation.
