China exported 2.7 million tons of manufactured steel products to Latin America between January-November 2012

Santiago of Chile, January 07, 2013. Latin America represented 10% of the exports of manufactured iron and steel products (chapter 73) from China to the world between January and November 2012, reaching 2.7 million tons, 8% more than in the same period of 2011.

Between January-November 2012, the main importing countries of manufactured iron and steel products were Venezuela (536,200 tons), representing 20% of the region, followed by Brazil (491,707 tons) and Chile (318,456), accounting for 18% and 14% of the region respectively. During this period Venezuela increased its imports from China by 119% compared to 2011.

In November 2012 China exported 271,609 tons of manufactured iron and steel products to Latin America, 29% more than in October 2012.

During November 2012, Venezuela – with 74,825 tons- attracted most part of Chinese exports to the region, followed by Brazil with 42,206 tons.
