December 3, 2015, Bangalore:  As heavy rains continue to lash Chennai, the city is submerged in water and people are desperately in need of help and relief.  Due to severe flooding, people from various parts of the city are left stranded on for long hours without food and proper shelter. To help the people in Chennai, CommonFloor – a leading real estate portal in the country has started an initiative – “We Are With Chennai” which comprises of two important activities i.e. ‘Need For Shelter’ and ‘Provide For Shelter. In Need for Shelter, anyone who is stuck in any part of Chennai, can look for nearby areas / houses and all those who are willing to help by providing shelter can share their details at CommonFloor site via Provide for Shelter.

CommonFloor.com and its Twitter page has become the epicenter for crowdsourcing all kinds of information: including adding requests for rescue, offers for shelter, listing of homes for shelter, info on affected as well as safe areas to travel etc. Join our initiative and be a part of #WeAreWithChennai campaign.

Speaking on the importance of this initiative, Sumit Jain, CEO & Co-founder CommonFloor said,             “#WeAreWithChennai is our endeavor to provide readily available data to relief seekers stuck in Chennai floods and also it gives a platform to users to participate in providing  shelter to people in need. At CommonFloor we would like to extend our technology and real-estate platform to provide help to the people of Chennai.”

CommonFloor has also allocated 2000 free SMS credits to all apartment association accounts of CommonFloor Groups their apartment management platform and tool, so that they can reach out to their residents and communicate any important messages.

Volunteers, who would like to list their property for people to avail shelter in the provide for shelter section which would consist of a simple questionnaire such as Name, phone no.,  locality, Name of apartment project, their address, the number of people they can accommodate and comments section.
