Corporate giants to strengthen the roots of shooting in India

The Indian contingent recorded its third best ever medal haul at the Commonwealth Games 2018. The country proved to be a dominant force in shooting by winning maximum number of medals in CWG, Gold Coast, Australia – 16 in total and seven of them gold from shooters: Heena Sindhu, Manu Bhakar, Sanjeev Rajput, JituRai, Anish, Shreyasi Singh, Tejaswini Sawant.

To keep up the abundance of talent and spread it beyond CWG and the Olympics,  a Corporate Shooting Challenge was organized at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Delhi by International Shooter & Coach Yoginder Pal Singh and Sports Commentator Neeti Rawat.

The two-day shooting event was conceptualized by NR Productions in association with Shoot To Win to introduce shooting to the corporate world and also to make sport of shooting and its players more visible to the public of India.

The event saw the participation of many corporate giants like Barclays, HCL, IndusInd, KPMG, etc. Fulfilling the objective of corporate shooting challenge 2018, first-time shooter, Abhinav Sharma from Barclays bagged the fourth position giving tough competition to the trained shooters.

Mr. Sharma, said, “this is a way we (corporates) could do something different from what we do every day, it is fulfilling and there is a sense of accomplishment. Personally, the event has given me the confidence to try something new and be good at it”.

“Shooting is an addictive sport and such events will create awareness and draw more participation and eventually more medals for the country”, he added

According to the information, Deepak Sharma, KPMG secured the first position, having a three point clear lead on his nearest rival Raj Kumar, Rodic Consultants Private Limited.

Corporate shooting challenge 2018, is said to strengthen the roots of shooting in India by popularizing the sport and its players among the Indian audience by associating it with the corporate world. It is providing an opportunity to corporate’s, regardless of their hectic schedule, to play in a sports championship and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
