Criminal Psychologist Anuja Kapur writes an open letter to PM Modi

Mrs. Anuja Kapur (2)January, 2014: Even in the 21st century, women of our country are still living in the danger of eve teasing, domestic violence, dowry system and acid attack. Today, India as a Nation is developing in every aspect but when we talk about the women development or issues related to women we are still there where we were in the some decades ago. It’s the high time when we have to take some serious steps to improve the condition of the women and should secure them so that they can move out freely without any fear. Government should bring strict laws so that these things can be prevented in future.

As a Social activist, Psychologist, Victimologist, above all a woman Mrs. Anuja Kapur wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi about these acid attacks and many more incidents which are being frequently done by the unethical people of the country. In her letter she showed concern towards the safety of the women in our country, where crime against women is increasing on a daily basis and women are not feeling secure while going outside their home, because not every girl or a woman have the luxury cars or drivers they have to travel by public transport. In the past 7 months 96 cases of acid attacks have been registered only in Delhi. Acid violence is the deliberate use of acid to attack another human being. The victims of acid violence are overwhelmingly women and children, and attackers often target the head and face in order to maim, disfigure and blind. These things are happening after Supreme Court had already imposed ban on sale of acids in the market but even after this acid is available in the markets which is damaging life of the individuals.

Anuja Letter

Many countries in recent past had taken steps to prevent these crimes, why in India these cases are increasing with the time and repeatedly these crimes have been done by the unwanted elements of the society. She personally, did many things to stop these incidents which are happening against the women as she has done a course of victimology where she assisted the victims of acid attacks, rape survivors and many more. It’s high time that we must take serious actions and steps to stop these crimes for the better and safer nation.
