Delhi teacher crowdfunds 23 lakhs in just 7 days for her liver transplant

~Puja Bhatnagar’s fundraiser on Impact Guru has been flooded with love and support of 363 online donors from India, UK, USA, Dubai and Australia~

Puja has been fighting liver cirrhosis for 17 years but she is no longer fighting alone. A crowdfunding campaign started by her husband Anurag Bhatnagar on Impact Guru has brought in support from all around the world for her treatment. Currently admitted at Max Hospital in Delhi, Puja’s doctors have confirmed that she has reached the last stage of liver cirrhosis, for which the only probable solution is an urgent liver transplant. The estimated pre and post surgery expense for her Liver transplant is coming to Rs 40 lacs with approx.5 to 6 months of recovery period.

A doting wife and an amazing mother to two beautiful daughters, Puja had to give up her teaching career which she loved the most in March’17 due to her deteriorating condition. As a teacher, Puja has been a perfect role model for her students and helped them become better humans.

And, now her students, friends, family along with Anurag’s colleagues are helping her raise money for her transplant. Her campaign has 335 social media shares and is receiving donations from UK, USA, Dubai and Australia. Raising funds on a crowdfunding platform like Impact Guru, has made it easier for her students and friends who are residing in various countries to donate to her treatment immediately.

With the help of Anurag’s own network added to by Impact Guru’s network of donors, the word about the fundraiser has spread far and wide, catching the attention of a lot of her ex-students who weren’t aware of her condition, and who now could donate with just a click.

Anurag Bhatnagar, Puja’s husband and campaigner, on crowdfunding:

“Crowdfunding helped us spread the fundraiser through various mediums which resulted in super quick response to our request for fundraising. The contributions came in from 15 different countries and we got people’s attention through Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp and by reaching out to different blogs. We had not expected to collect this high an amount in such a short span of time, but this was made possible by crowdfunding on Impact Guru.”

Anurag on how the fundraiser went viral:

“I made a team of friends (coordinators) who are fairly active in their own social networks and gave them small targets to personally connect with at least 20-25 influencing people each day. Besides that lot of people came forward on their own including Puja’s ex-colleagues from various schools, students and friends. The key was to spread the word fast to the widest audience and that worked.”

Anurag on his experience with Impact Guru:

“My experience has been absolutely great and totally unexpected as the kind of response we received was beyond our imagination. Few issues which came were quickly addressed by Impact Guru team. Special mention for Ayushi (Relationship Manager at Impact Guru) who did a great job working on the campaign even during the weekend.”

“We are very happy that our platform can help facilitate support from donors and samaritans world over to causes of medical emergencies like these.” – Khushboo Jain, Co-founder, Impact Guru
