EU STEEL DISTRIBUTION ACTIVITY IN 1st. HALF YEAR 2016

DURING 2. QUARTER OF 2016 SHIPMENTS BY EU STEEL DISTRIBUTION NOTED HIGHER GROWTH RATES THAN DURING 1.QUARTER 2016.

 

EUROMETAL’s unique market monitoring system is tracking EU steel distribution shipments and stocks for its two main business segments:

 

–       Flat SSC distribution

–       Multi-Product & Proximity Stockholding distribution

EU Flat SSC,during  2. Quarter 2016, operated shipments at a significant growth rate of +7 %, year-on-year, compared to +1 %, year-on-year, during 1. Quarter 2016. On average for the first 6 months of 2016, EU SSC increased shipments by +4%, in a year-on-year comparison.

Stocks with EU SSC, expressed in days of shipments, represented 57 days at the end of June 2016, to compare with 57 days at the end of June 2015.

EU Multi-Product & Proximity Stockholding distribution noted a rather satisfactory activity during 2. Quarter 2016,pushed mainly by good shipments in long steel products.

2. Quarter 2016 sales of long steel products registered a significant growth rate of +8 %, year-on-year, against +6 %, year-on-year, during 1. Quarter 2016, leading to an average increase of +7%, y-o-y, for the first 6 months of 2016.

Considering the complete product portfolio of EU Multi-product & Proximity Steel Stockholding distribution, growth in shipments during 2.  Quarter 2016 amounted to +5 %,y-o-y, against +2 %,y-o-y, during 1.Quarter 2016. For the first half year 2016, the rise in shipments accounted to +3 %, in a year-on-year comparison.

Stocks at EU Multi-Product & Proximity steel distribution at end June 2016 represented the equivalent of 70 days of shipments, to be compared with 71 days at end June 2015
