ficciNew Delhi, 30 June, 2019: FICCI welcomes the Labour Ministry’s new initiative for devising a web-portal where enterprises can file their compliance returns for 16 of the 44 central labour laws in the country. This was informed today by the Labour Secretary Smt. Gauri Kumar at a meeting held with the Employers Representatives under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Union Labour Minister Shri. Narendra Singh Tomar. Initially, on pilot basis.

This portal will be applicable only to establishments operating under the Central sphere and by October this year it will be operational at the national sphere. It was also informed that in due course of time the Labour Ministry will come up with a single return format for the 16 labour laws after due amendments in the rules.

According to FICCI, this initiative will not only bring some relief to the overall compliance burden of some of the Central labour laws but will also bring transparency. This was one of the long pending demands of industry. During the meeting, FICCI has also requested to extend similar system to encompass other related laws as well.
