DUBAI, 09 March, 2015: While smartphone adoption continues to grow in the region, many customers still prefer feature phones that meet their specific requirements over “one size fits all” devices, according to top European mobile maker Fly.

Figures from market watcher International Data Corporation (IDC) show that one in four customers in the GCC market still chooses a traditional handset when making a phone purchase. Feature phones also continue to dominate the Africa market, with 60 per cent of the mobile-phone market share. Fly is supporting this demand with feature phones tailored to specific customer segments.

“As part of our commitment to meet the varying needs of our customers, we are introducing a series of sophisticated feature phones designed to fulfill their requirements. Customers very definitely understand that one size does not fit all when it comes to handsets,” said Nitin Sood, Managing Director, Fly MEA.

“Fly recognizes the demand for a branded solution that customers can trust and that meets their individual needs. Our feature phone offerings extend our product range and help our customers achieve their goals,”Sood added.

The innovative mobile maker is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to customer choice by offering a range of feature phones to suit all needs and budgets for the Middle East, Africa & Turkeymarkets.

Fly will be making the feature phones available in the GCC through its partnership with Dubai-based Eurostar Group, and the devices are also available across Africa, where the company has seen tremendous success for the products, thanks to their innovative design and specifications.

“At Fly we recognize the need to cater for all our customers with innovative solutions that deliver on our promise of style, elegance and functionality,” said Abdul Jabbar Shahnawaz, Vice President, Marketing, FlyMEA. “We see a clear demand for a branded product that can deliver reliable performance and meet specific requirements, and with our sophisticated range of feature phones, we aim to fulfill this growing need.”

The performance-packed range includes the POSH phone – an ultra-slim and stylish handset, aimed at business professionals who are not keen on adopting smartphones, but are looking for an elegant device that suits their status. Measuring at just 7.4mm thin, the POSH is Fly’s slimmest feature phone, boasting a sleek design with a magnesium aluminum body. The POSH is the perfect device for those who appreciate the legacy and simplicity of a feature phone, but are not willing to compromise on style.

Other products in the range include the Chat TS111, a triple SIM phone that allows customers to work with multiple operators in a single phone, giving improved coverage even in areas with poor reception, and allowing for ease of use while traveling. The handset has proven extremely successful in Nigeria and Mozambique.

The Easy 5 features larger buttons, making dialing in a hurry easier, as well as an SOS button on the back, which can be programmed with an emergency number for rapid access to support service, and a useful flip button for the phone’s ‘Torch’ feature, enabling customers to quickly switch on or switch off the flashlight. The Runner feature phone has a 2800mah battery, with a standby time of more than 30 days. The device can also be used as a power bank, making it popular in some African markets, where power shortages can be a common issue.

As well as delivering performance-packed phone at competitive prices, Fly also provides a reliable and scalable after-sales service, with an on-the-ground customer service team across the region.

Fly’s astonishing success in the GCC market follows the company’s significant achievements in Russia, where Fly is currently the number one smartphone brand, and its position as atop performer in many other European markets.
