ICSI Seminar on Companies Bill 2012 held in Kolkata

icsiThe Institute of Company Secretaries of India-Eastern India Regional Council (ICSI-EIRC) organized a Full-Day Seminar on “Companies Bill 2012” on Saturday, the 17th  of August, 2013 from 10.00 am to 5:30 pm at Hotel Golden Park, Kolkata.

The Chief Guest at the inaugural session of the seminar was CS (Dr) Navrang Saini, Regional Director (East),Ministry of Corporate Affairs. The other dignitaries on the dais were CS Deepak Kr Khaitan, Chairman,ICSI EIRC and CS Arun Khandelia, Vice Chairman, ICSI EIRC and CS Ashok Pareek,Counil Member,ICSI.

In the inaugural session, CS Deepak Kr Khaitan, Chairman ICSI EIRC in his address introduced the theme of the seminar and said that the Companies Bill promises oppurtunuities for professionals and it’s for the professionals to update themselves for better understanding of the schedules etc

CS Ashok Pareek,Council Member,ICSI in his speech said that the Companies Bill enhances accountability of auditors, protects minority shareholders. The Bill puts Company Secretaries (CS) in the forefront. The role of CS will increase so CS should take this opportunity to unlearn,learn and relearn for better understanding of the laws.

CS (Dr) Navrang Saini,Regional Director (East), MCA, the chief guest of the seminar in his inaugural address said that new companies bill passed by both houses of thr parliament is now awaiting Presidential Assent and after the assent would be known as Companies Act 2013. He said that now the formation of NCLT will be a boon and said company Secretaries with their academic excellence and hard work will benefit.

The other speakers in the function was CS K Sethuraman, Group Company Secretary & Chief Compliance Officer, Reliance Industries Limited who spoke on the topic Overview, Definitions, Share Capital and Prospectus, CS Shashikala Rao, Practising Company Secretary who spoke on the topic Incorporation, Deposit, Dividend, Chapters, CS B.B.Chatterjee, Executive Vice-President & CS, ITC Limited  who spoke on Board & Governance and CS Vinod Kothari, Practising Company Secretary on his topic Accounts & Audit.
