IDBI Bank supports the Sea Hawks for 26/11 Tribute Swim – The Swim of the Century

Pays tribute on the 8th anniversary of 26/ 11 Mumbai terror attacks

 

idbi bankMumbai, November 26, 2016: IDBI Bank paid homage to the martyrs and victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks by supporting ‘Tribute Swim’, a 1000kms open water swim expedition undertaken by the ‘Sea Hawks’ attempting to set a new World Record. The expedition was flagged off from Gateway of India, Mumbai by Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India and Shri K. P. Nair, DMD, IDBI Bank.

‘Sea Hawks’ aims to break the world record of the longest open water relay swim covering over 1000kms in the Arabian Sea from Mumbai to Mangaluru.  The team comprising of 6 open water swimmers will be accompanied by medical staff and independent observers.

The team lead, Wing Commander Paramvir Singh, has led varied expeditions in the past like channel swim in the English Channel and the Arabian Sea (creating a new World Record). He has also undertaken the first ever swim across the entire stretch of the river Ganga. He was conferred with the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award (2014), which is the highest award in adventure sports bestowed by Government of India.

Nair, DMD, IDBI Bank, said, “This attempt is a tribute to all those martyrs, who lost their lives guarding ours, and to those Heroes who showed bravery in face of danger. We support the team’s endeavor in setting a new world record in adventure sports and promoting Channel Swimming in India. We wish The Sea Hawks team all the best.”
