IIM Lucknow’s International Marketing Conference – Listening to Consumers of Emerging Markets

Indian-Institute-of-Management-IIM-LucknowThe Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow is hosting the international conference in the field of Marketing Research from January 9th -11th, 2014 at its Noida Campus. The theme of the conference is “Listening to Consumers of Emerging Markets”.

Globally today people are discussing the increasing contribution of population in Emerging Markets to global consumption. The consumption patterns globally are changing and in a few years would be significantly different from those prevailing a decade ago.

Historically researches in marketing and consumer behaviours have focussed on developed economies. But with increased focus on Emerging Markets, which are radically different then mature economies, these researches and theories are no longer able to answer the strategic questions raised by Emerging Markets. Marketing theories and practices would now have to be more focussed on these markets. Intelligent understanding of the dynamics of these complex markets and its more complex consumers is the key to success for a business in these competitive markets.

The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for a distinguished group of speakers and participants who will discuss debate and share their insights in furthering understanding on marketing theory and practice to listen and understand consumer voice in the context of EMs. Such a group includes leading academic researchers from business schools as well as experts from the world of marketing practice. In consonance with the growing opportunities available to consumers for expressing their opinions, and for firms to track consumer engagements, this conference sets an agenda for “Listening to Consumers in Emerging Markets”

The objectives of the Conference are:

  • To provide a platform where marketing practitioners and academicians share and discuss the contemporary marketing issues and challenges in the changing consumer context in emerging economies.
  • To share scholarly research on emerging opportunities and threats in the changing market context in emerging economies.
  • To analyse and understand the underlying behavioural changes among consumer communities leading to the emergence of more demanding and savvy customers in emerging economies.
