IIP to honour innovation in packaging design at industry’s premier Indiastar and Pacmachine awards

 

June, 2017, Mumbai: The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) – the central apex body for promotion and packaging standards – will be organising its’ most prestigious & popular INDIASTAR 2017 and PACMACHINE 2017 Awards in October this year. The Indiastar Awards that were instituted in 1972 aim to encourage excellence in packaging design, innovation and sustainability. Since 1992, the IIP also confers the Pacmachine Awards to motivate manufacturers in the packaging machinery for development of packaging machinery in the country.

Both the national-level awards are held once every two years and are a big hit as one the most premier events for India’s packaging fraternity.

A jury comprising of eminent personalities in academics, research, government and other related areas judge the entries each year and decide upon the winners of the IndiaStar awards. Similarly, an expert panel consisting of specialists from academics, technical bodies and industry aspects of design, development, production and performance of machinery will judge the Pacmachine Awards.

The winners of both the awards will have the special right to display the names of their respective awards on all of their stationery, brochures, annual reports, letterheads and other publicity material. The winners of Indiastar Awardare eligible to contest for the ‘Asiastar’ and ‘Worldstar’ awards organised by the Asian Packaging Federation and World Packaging Organisation respectively.

This year, the Indiastar Awards also boasts of a special category named ‘Save Food Initiative’ to highlight the role of packaging in preventing food looses and food waste. This category is in line with a special category titled ‘Packaging that Saves Food’ which is a part of the Worldstar Awards.

The awards distinction ‘INDIASTAR’ enjoys a high level of recognition worldwide and serves as a brand for the companies, agencies and students with outstanding design skills. So far more than 500 nominations have been received for INDIASTAR 2017 Awards which has created a history for receiving the highest number of nominations ever since its inception which says it all about the quality of the selection procedure and the overall importance of the Award. In fact the fairly initiative to introduce the Student Category Awards has established to capture & recognize the talent of the young people and stimulate these young people to become the future packaging technologist” said Mr. Shekhar Amberkar, Assistant Director-IIP and co-ordinator for INDIASTAR & PACMACHINE Awards.
