Innovative tunnel construction technology at InnoTrans 2016

InnoTrans_LogoBerlin, 29 September 2015 – Tunnel Construction and Railway Infrastructure are two sectors that are interlinked. As the leading international trade fair for rail transport technology InnoTrans is a firm fixture on the events calendar of tunnel construction specialists, both at home and abroad. From 20 to 23 September numerous exhibitors in the Tunnel Construction segment will be showcasing innovative solutions for communications, fire protection and security systems as well as construction products, tunnelling and cleaning machines.

Among the newcomers in 2016 is Brügger HTB GmbH from Switzerland, which has many years of experience in cleaning tunnels. Only recently, the company was awarded an exclusive special contract for the Gotthard base tunnel. ”Tunnel cleaning is a rail industry sector which in our opinion offers great prospects for us. InnoTrans provides an ideal opportunity to exploit the possibilities. Within the industry the world’s leading international trade fair has a reputation as an outstanding platform for setting up business partnerships and introducing new products onto the market“, said Beat Brügger, the co-owner of Brügger HTB GmbH. At InnoTrans 2016 this company is due to exhibit a specially developed rail track cleaning system.

Besides Brügger, a number of other companies including Herrenknecht, Talleres Zitrón, Pöyry and Niedax have secured places as Tunnel Construction exhibitors next year. These companies will also be displaying new tunnelling equipment in the Railway Infrastructure segment. As such, the two industry sectors that are instrumental in realising underground transport systems will be sensibly combined on the exhibition grounds at InnoTrans.

Experts debate specialist topics at the International Tunnel Forum

In addition to exhibiting products the fair also provides ample opportunity for attending training courses and an exchange among experts on the latest industry topics. At the InnoTrans Convention the German Research Association for Underground Transportation (STUVA) will be organising the International Tunnel Forum for trade visitors. The focus of this dialogue and exchange of ideas is on the latest topics concerning the construction and operation of tunnels. The event will be moderated by Dr.-Ing. Roland Leucker, the managing director of STUVA.
