The regular season of IPL has ended, but the excitement continues as the playoffs is now underway. Let’s take a look back at some interesting findings based on statistics gathered from cricket fans on UC Browser. As the most popular web browser in India, UC Browser saw over half a million users playing its exclusive “IPL Guessing Game” daily during the regular season.

1. Biggest Dark Horse: Kings XI Punjab overwhelming favorite to win IPL 2014

The cricket field is where amazing things happen. Before the start of the season, few could have predicted that Kings XI Punjab would be this good, but the team has exceeded all expectations and given us several great performances.

On a May 20th poll held on UC Browser, 44% of respondents picked KXIP as the team likeliest to become this season’s champion. The Chennai Super Kings came in second with 31% of the votes, while the Rajasthan Royals was the least favorite team with only 2% of the votes.

2. Most Disappointing Team: Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB’s high rate of support at the start of the season went down quickly as a result of poor performances. Over the first 7 matches, 70% of cricket fans on UC Browser picked RCB to win. That figure dropped to 58% over the last 7 matches as people realized that Chris Gayle, the Thalaiva of Cricket can’t save his team this year.

3. Most Unexpected Match Result: SRH vs. CSK (22 May)

Users playing UC Browser’s “IPL Guessing Game” thought this game was a lock with 87% of participants betting on a CSK win. The match result shocked everyone as Sunrisers Hyderabad won by 6 wickets.

4. Most Expected Match Result: KXIP vs. DD (25 May)

As everyone predicted, KXIP defeated DD by a comfortable margin. 8% of UC Browser Guessing Game participants betted on the Delhi Daredevils to win. We’re not sure what they were thinking.

5. Average Support Rate: CSK popular pick to win; DD popular pick to lose

Throughout the regular season, CSK was bet on to win most frequently by cricket fans on UC Browser. Let’s see how the team fares in the playoffs.
