Mr. Gurtej Singh, Chairman of Ivy Group informed that this shall be a centre of excellence offering comprehensive cardiac care to the patients and we promise to bring down the cost of health services, and deliver honest and affordable health care.

He said that Ivy has expanded from its Mohali unit in 2007 to now five units including Amritsar and has three more hospitals at Bathinda, Jalandhar and Panchkula in the pipeline.

Our objective is to create centres of excellence in cardiology and oncology, and very soon we would be launching the pediatric cardiology wing to enable us to treat congenital cardiac disease amongst new borns, he added.

Dr. Kanwaldeep Kaur, Medical Director, Ivy Group said that there is a team of three super specialists; a cardiac surgeon, an interventional cardiologist and a cardiac anesthesiologist, managing the Institute.

She informed that Dr. Pankaj Goel, with over 2500 heart surgeries to his credit, has joined as Director and HOD of the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. He was Ex-Director and HOD of Cardiac Surgery department, Fortis Escort Hospital, Amritsar; Dr. Yadvinder Singh, a senior Interventional Cardiologist has joined as Director Interventional Cardiology and Dr. Rajesh Arora, a senior Anesthesiologist has joined as Director and HOD of Anesthesia (Cardiac
Care, Critical Care and General).

She further added that an advanced and fully-equipped cardiac operation theatre and a cath-lab has also been provided to do any complex surgery.

Dr. Pankaj Goel, informed that cardiac surgery department is fully functional and first surgery was performed on 26th July.  The unit will be performing all kinds of heart, lung and vascular surgeries, and what differentiate this Institute, he added, is the pre-operative planning involving team discussion on complete patient profile which
results in precision and exactness of procedure, and personalized post-operative care.

Dr. Yadwinder Singh, said that at Ivy Cardiac institute we believe in the philosophy of ‘quality is more important than quantity’ and we make sure that each patient who comes to our Institute is provided with a personalized treatment with humane touch.

With the use of latest new techniques in surgeries, the patient can resume his normal routine with minimum discomfort.

He added that we have introduced the procedure of transradial angiography through wrist, since femoral artery insertion in the groin of the patient could require up to six hours of immobilization, whereas in radial angiography, the patient recovers much quickly with low chances of any complication arising through internal bleeding.

Dr. Rajesh Arora, Director of Anaesthesia said that there is a dire need for the people to wake up to the dangers of avoidable heart disease by ensuring “Healthy Heart Healthy Life”. Coronary heart disease is rampant in Punjab and Haryana and is one of the leading causes of deaths because of the lifestyle issues, obesity, diabetes and smoking as the major risk factors, he explained, which calls for early detection of the disease.

Chairman Ivy Hospital, Mr. Gurtej Singh added, Ivy Hospital Amritsar is a 200-bed multi-super-specialty hospital, which was inaugurated early this year and it is a part of the growing network of its hospitals at Mohali, Nawanshahr, Khanna and Hoshiarpur.

He further added that Ivy’s growth across Punjab has been made possible only because of its continued commitment to deliver reliable and affordable healthcare through ethical practices.
