Greater Miami and The Beaches Invites Film Buffs to Experience the Destination’s Film Culture, Renowned Art Cinemas and Prestigious Film Festivals

To celebrate the big screen’s presence in Miami, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB) has partnered with Stella Artois to host the fourth annual Miami Film Month from June 1-30, with a stellar line-up of activities.
Miami Film Month gives visitors and residents a front row seat to the destination’s diverse film culture with discounted pricing at participating art cinemas. Miami Film Month will kick off during the Women’s International Film Festival on Tuesday, June 2 at the Le Jardin Theater in the Deauville Resort, with a VIP cocktail reception and screening of Awaken, directed by Mark Atkins.
Miami Themed Featured Shorts & Discussion Panel
This year’s Miami Film Month will also celebrate local emerging filmmakers by showcasing a collection of short films created by Miami area producers throughout the month of June. The exclusive collection of films were curated from a host of Miami’s best films, many of which have screened at prestigious festivals such as Miami International Film Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival and more. Following each screening, an interactive panel will take place where the filmmakers discuss their work, professional journey and Miami’s burgeoning film scene. The panel will be moderated by Kevin Sharpley, filmmaker and Chairman of the Miami-Dade County Film and Entertainment Advisory Board.
Miami Film Month Featured Filmmaker
In an effort to promote and encourage local filmmakers, Miami Film Month will nominate one lucky Featured Filmmaker who either hails from the city or has created films in or about Miami. The selected Featured Filmmaker will have the opportunity to showcase their films at Miami Light Project and participate in a post-screening session called “Conversation With,” in which a moderator will highlight the artist’s career. #MiamiFilm Month Facebook Video Contest
Calling all filmmakers! The Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau, in partnership with CineVisun and Black Film and Media Group (BFMG), invites creative producers to “Show the World Miami”. The contest, which takes place May 18 – June 7, invites filmmakers to create a one-to-two minute video providing a look at what they love most about Miami and submit it on The Greater Miami and The Beaches Facebook page, for a chance to win a $3,000 grand prize. A total of three videos will be selected and featured at the Miami Film Month closing event, where all winners will receive their prizes. For more details, please see Official Rules.
