Former Manchester City player Paul Dickov to attend inaugural programme delivered by City Football Schools

– New details revealed for first BETADINE® Youth Football Programme in Singapore

– The week-long event aims to develop Singapore’s pool of talented football players

SINGAPORE , June 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — To mark the first BETADINE ® Youth Football Programme, former Manchester City player Paul Dickov , will be visiting Singapore to work alongside experienced Manchester City coaches and help inspire the next generation of local Singaporean football players.

Over the course of the week, Dickov will be working closely with the group of 32 talented players, selected by programme partners Football Association of Singapore (FAS). He will be sharing personal insights and experiences on what it takes to become a professional athlete and giving the players helpful tips during the programme. While in Singapore , Paul will also meet members of Manchester City Supporters Club.

A Scottish international team striker, Paul Dickov’s football career spanned 21 years from 1990 to 2011, including more than six seasons with Manchester City between 1996 – 2002, and then again from 2006 – 2008.

Held at the Jalan Besar Stadium — the birthplace of football in Singapore — over 19-23 June, the Programme is a partnership between BETADINE ® makers Mundipharma and Premier League giants, Manchester City, who are providing two high calibre coaches towards the initiative.

The programme will take elements of the City Football Schools curriculum — the City Play model — and provide a fun and challenging training experience. The program is based on how Manchester City’s players, from the Academy to the First Team, train and play on a daily basis, using examples of key players from the Club to bring the techniques and skills to life.

As well as selecting the participants and organising other activities for the Programme such as sports health theory sessions, the FAS will be facilitating a ‘Coach the Coaches’ for local Singapore youth coaches to learn from the Manchester City duo.

Paul Dickov commented: “I’m excited to be part of Mundipharma’s very first football programme in Singapore . Working alongside coaches from City Football Schools will provide the players with an exciting and challenging training schedule while using Manchester City’s football philosophy. I’m looking forward to meeting the players and sharing some of my practical hints and tips that helped me in my career.”

Mundipharma CEO Raman Singh , said “We’re delighted to have teamed-up with our Partner Manchester City and the FAS to make the first ever BETADINE ® Youth Football Programme a reality. With an excellent programme in place, and a football legend to motivate them, Singapore’s future football stars are in great hands.

We hope to make this an annual programme because together with our partners we believe the skills learned by the participants and coaches will be passed on and permeate beyond this programme creating a significant, lasting impact on football in Singapore .”
