Michigan Technological University Partners with Keypath Education to Provide High-Quality Distance Education to Working Engineers Around the U.S.

CHICAGO (Apr. 3, 2018) — Michigan Technological University, ranked among the top 25 STEM colleges in the country by Forbes, has announced a partnership with Keypath Education to update, expand and optimize its online degree offerings, beginning with engineering.

“Michigan Tech is known for the quality of its programs and as we become more involved in online delivery, we have the potential to serve more students than ever before,” says Jacqueline Huntoon, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University. “By providing accessible, necessary education to working engineers, we will be building and developing the workforce, not only here in Michigan, but across the United States.”

In May 2018, the University will begin enrolling working engineers in two technical online programs: Master of Science in Electrical Engineering – Signals and Systems, and Master of Science in Civil Engineering – Structures. The programs are designed so that students can complete two courses concurrently to complete the program in five semesters, or one course at a time to complete the program in ten semesters.

These online programs, in conjunction with the University’s close strategic relationships with engineering employers across the nation, are crucial for professional engineers looking to grow their careers without affecting commitments to work, family or other obligations.

Keypath is dedicated to creating global access to online education for students across the globe, regardless of location, situation or career goals. In pursuit of this mission, the organization partners with high-quality postsecondary institutions worldwide to launch and grow degree programs through online program management (OPM), a strategic relationship between universities and external partners that entails market research, capital investment, marketing, student recruitment and retention.

As Michigan Technological University’s OPM partner, Keypath will work as an extension of the University’s team to find, enroll and retain the best-fit students for each program, and work collaboratively with the University’s faculty to develop engaging online courses. Michigan Tech faculty will provide all course content and student instruction.

“We at Keypath are pleased that our experience and knowledge of online programming will be used to elevate Michigan Technological University’s esteemed reputation for engineering and STEM education,” says Steve Fireng, Global Chief Executive Officer at Keypath. “The University has built a reputation of excellence around its courses, faculty and strategic relationships with corporations, and by partnering with Keypath, they will be able to extend the reach of these technical degrees to exponentially more students.”
