MONTEGRAPPA NURTURES MEXICAN YOUNG TALENT

To support the growth and development of youth has always been an interest of Montegrappa. Some of the efforts that exceed the regular activities of the company as pen makers have been the support and patronage of projects and young people that excel in diverse disciplines among their communities.

Carlos Maldonado Lara is a young dressage rider born in Jalisco, Mexico. At the age of 4 he started horseback riding as the family tradition would suggest, first in the art of “Charreria” – local horseback riding art, and then equestrian jumping.

A few years later he commenced training in dressage, the elegant Olympic discipline described as a highly skilled form of riding performed in exhibition and competition, as well as an “art” sometimes pursued solely for the sake of mastery.

At the age of 7 ‘Charly’ started to compete at a regional and state level with success. After a few years of integral education he completed his youth level training at a dressage camp in Portugal.

Coming back to Mexico he started his formal training with Antonio Rivera, Olympic figure and one of the references of dressage in the country.

At age 16 he started to compete regularly at a national level, shortly after, in continental competitions, where he has positioned himself in the top 20 riders of his category.

2018 seems to be the year in which Carlos’ future turns more serious in terms of growth since he will contend, with great chance of success, in the qualifiers to be part of the Mexican dressage team that will compete in the Central American Games. This would make him the youngest rider in Mexican history to compete at that level.

What’s on the horizon for young rider Carlos, maybe the Olympics?
