Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation: Completion of Integrated Manufacture Setup and Commencement of Mass Production concerning Automotive Steel Pipe/Tube Business in India

nippon steelNippon Steel Pipe India Private Limited (“NPI”) whose primary shareholders are Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (Chairman & CEO: Shoji Muneoka, “NSSMC”) and its consolidated subsidiary Siam Nippon Steel Pipe Co., Ltd. (“SNP”), started, in January 2012, the cutting, heat treating, and other processing of mother pipe supplied from SNP, and completed the installment of pipe-making and cold-drawing equipment by the end of 2012 on schedule. It finished structuring the integrated manufacture setup from pipe-making to cold-drawing, heat-treating and other processes in January 2013.

Since then, approvals have been successfully obtained from customers for the relevant products, and commercial production commenced in June of this year.

The NSSMC group, while continuing to respond steadily to the needs of Japanese and other automakers (both vehicles and parts), will strengthen global sales capabilities and capture the burgeoning demand in the newly developing markets where rapid growth is expected, to pursue greater profit.
