One Globe Forum 2018 announces 6th Edition of BrainGain Magazine Breakfast Roundtable

Forum to also host study abroad session and study abroad fair for students

New Delhi, January 19, 2018: BrainGain Magazine, a leading study abroad online magazine for students, their parents and mid-career professionals across the globe, is inviting nominations for the sixth edition of its Breakfast Roundtable. The Roundtable will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018, on the second day of the One Globe Forum, a platform that explores the intersection of technology, innovation, smart cities, skills, regional collaboration and education and their role in building a 21st century knowledge economy.

The theme of the discussion for the Roundtable will be “Failure as a step forward in the learning process”. Principals from leading schools and colleges in India will be joined by international education experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities in improving education for a smarter future. The roundtable will be an interactive discussion, providing both sides with a platform to exchange thoughts on opportunities and challenges in the education ecosystem in India in a period of transition, affected by globalization, changing relationships between the university and the state, modern technologies, among others.

The discussion will be followed by a complimentary “Study abroad Information Session for students, parents and teachers to interact with the representatives of leading foreign institutions. For the first time this year, the forum will also conduct a Study Abroad Fair with leading universities from around the globe allowing students to directly engage with them.

Talking about the Breakfast Roundtable, Mr. Harjiv Singh, Founder and CEO, BrainGain Magazine, said, “It’s important to eradicate the stigma attached to challenges in our education system. During the Roundtable discussion, we would like leading education experts and principals of educational institutions to discuss how they can adapt unique aspects to their curriculum which would encourage students to think creatively, be entrepreneurial, take risks and be experimental. This will help students realize that failure is not wrong but instead, brings them one step closer to expanding their horizons.”

The complimentary “Study abroad information” session will cover a multitude of topics such as getting into the Ivy Leagues, planning for higher education in the US, standardized tests — best practices and benefits in college admissions, MOOCs, financing studies abroad, preparing for admission tests, and so on. During these annual student sessions, distinguished academicians from leading institutions will share insights into topics such as getting into Ivy League universities, Oxford and Cambridge; planning for higher education in the U.S.; writing impactful resumes and appearing for interviews; financing studies abroad; the importance of grades and test scores for applications to foreign universities; role and benefits of standardized tests; secrets of entrepreneurship, and more.

For the first time BrainGain Magazine will also host a Study Abroad Fair with leading universities, allowing them to set up counselling and information dissemination booths at the One Globe Forum. The Fair will not only enable the universities to help students make an informed decision when thinking of studying abroad but also help them identify potential leads.

While we have been conducting the Study Abroad Information Sessions every year, we felt a strong need to provide the students with an opportunity to connect with the universities directly. The Study Abroad Fair will see top universities such as Macquarie and St. Johns to name a few, set up their information booths at the One Globe Forum. It will provide students a holistic and in-depth understanding on how the application process works for foreign universities, allow them to weigh their options and decide the courses that would be best suited for them.” adds Harjiv.

In the previous editions, Indian school principals and counsellors have been provided with the opportunity to interact with top faculty and officials from New York University, Cambridge, Arizona State University, University of Pennsylvania, The College Board, University of Texas, Coursera, USIEF, International Institute of Education, International Baccalaureate Organization, Hofstra University, and other leading global institutes.  Leading academicians from India at these breakfast roundtables have represented The Air Force School, Subroto Park; Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram; Mayo College, Ajmer; Genesis Global School; G.D. Goenka Public School, Dwarka; SAI International School; Center for Education Strategy; BITS Pilani, Goa;  Ramjas School, RK Puram; The Heritage School; Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities; Ahlcon International School; Step by Step School; DPS Sushant Lok; Sardar Patel Vidyalaya School; The British School; The German School; ITL Public School Dwarka; Pathways World School; Kunskapsskolan Gurgaon; among others.
