Mumbai witnessed a powerhouse of talent with some of the most versatile dancers of the city this Saturday. India Dance Week kick-started its second edition on 8th April 2015, with Sandip Soparrkar, one of the best choreographers in India who introduced this wonderful platform last year, 2014 at Phoenix Marketcity Kurla mall.
Ravishing Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon graced the event to inaugurate the second edition of India Dance Week. The event started with a heart-warming performance by actress Raveena Tandon on her famous number “Kisi Disco Me Jaye” Raveena said, “I am delighted to be a part of this grand celebration, where we can see varied dance forms together on one platforms. A rare opportunity for a dance lover indeed.”
The kids of Smile Foundation were seen performing with dance maestro Sandip Soparrkar on a hit Bollywood number ‘Indiawale’ where the crowd cheered for them as they danced to foot tapping beats. The audience witnessed a mixed bag of performances that lit-up the stage with various genres like Bollywood, ballroom, hip hop, contemporary and even many classical and folk dances by students of Kathak guru Nutan Patwardhan, western dance master Brain Fernandes and ballet expert Villoo Bharucha. Participants were extremely enthusiastic and vibrant and made sure that there was never a dull moment for the audience.
Adding to this, Sandip Soparrkar said, “This is the second edition of India Dance Week and I am so excited the way it has turned out this time too, each year it’s getting bigger. This year we had dancers from Sri Lanka n Tibet performing for us their traditional dances for Indian audience. I am overwhelmed with the response we have received for this edition of India Dance Week.
Speaking on this occasion, Rajendra Kalkar, Senior Center Director said, “We are glad to see a fantastic response to the second edition of India Dance Week. We are delighted to host these passionate dancers and provide them with a platform to showcase their talent. We thank Sandip Soparrkar, to conduct the second edition of this wonderful event where he has given all of us a wonderful experience. We hope to have many more editions of India Dance Week and other such associations with him in the future that will provide a platform to all the talented dancers in the city”.
