Mumbai, 23rd May 2015: After 3 months of great cricketing action, the first edition of the Smaaash Mumbai Cricket Challenge finally concluded with Sachin Tendulkar felicitating the efforts of the top 3 winning teams from two levels of game play – “amateur” and “county” categories. A stupendous success, the tournament saw over 2000 cricket enthusiasts, from across the city played as 7 member teams.

Master Blaster – Sachin Tendulkar graced the celebration and affectionately congratulated and applauded the winners’ efforts.

The Tournament held at the recently revamped highly immersive gaming and entertainment zone with new games and thrills was a SMAAASH hit! Divided into 2 rounds  the teams played against Smaaash’s unique cricket simulator in round 1 after which the top 64 teams in each of the 2 categories (Men’s County and Men’s amateur) depending on their score moved on to the knock-out stage where they played against an opposing team as per the draw.

The Smaaash Mumbai Cricket Challenge is one of the biggest open tournaments with the highest prize money in the country. The winners, runners up and 3rd place of the Challenge Finals were awarded prizes worth INR 5,00,000, 3,00,000 and 2,00,000 respectively for the Men’s County Category while in the Men’s amateur category the prize money is INR 1,00,000, 50,000 and 25,000

Tournament Highlights:

  • Total Teams participated – 310
  • Top 64 teams in Amateur & top 32 teams in county qualified for the Knockouts
  • Tournament Duration – 31st Jan 2015 to 11th April 2015
  • Teams from top corporate houses, Colleges, Schools and various professional clubs participated in the tournament.

 

County:

  • Finals – Yodhas (113/10) beat Avengers (70/8) by 43 runs. Bhavil Acharya from Yodhas scored 58.
  • 3rd place Match – Original Blasters (82/3) beat Kotak Mahindra (81/10) by 7 wickets. Vidhyut Sodha (Original Blaster) scores 77 not out off 42 deliveries.

 

Amateur:

  • Finals – Ek No.1 (253/5) beat One Direction (220/5) by 35 runs. Manoj Rathod scored 130 for Ek No.1 and Chintan Wagh scored 120 for One Direction.
  • 3rd place Match – Shared between Shield & Badshah Boys.

 

All matches were of 12 overs each.
