“The UAE continues its journey of giving; the journey it adopted ever since its establishment by the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The announcement of 2017 as the Year of Giving by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, is a significant step forward towards promoting this journey of giving by reinforcing the role of the private sector in serving the nation and contributing to its development, as well as spreading the culture of volunteering in order to provide real services for the society. The Year of Giving will also promote national service amongst the younger Emirati generations to express their love and contributions to the progress of the UAE.
The concept of giving stipulated by the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and adopted by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE has become a constant approach which is poised to become a key feature of the UAE’s society and corporate community. The Year of Giving encourages the development of national and local initiatives aimed at consolidating the concept of giving as a social approach and mutual responsibility amongst the private and public sectors, and civil society, to become active contributors to the UAE’s development.
