Faridabad, 28th November ,2017:Technology is critical for innovation. Robotics matches the new digital technologies curriculum and there are increasing initiatives to teach robotics in schools. This is because children find it fun, it is an effective way of introducing programming to students, it helps address the growing demand for teaching science, technology, engineering and math in schools, it is suitable for children with a range of abilities and it demystifies a complex technology.
The SRS International School is abreast of the changing technologies and associated dynamic curricula, and Robotics is a part of the syllabus here. To boost the energies of their students, this pioneer school encourages them to participate in various national and international contests and championships.
The school was invited to participate in the World Educational Robot Contest (WER) 2017 World Championship, which is founded and organized by World Educational Robotics Society (WERS).
This championship is an international robot contest for teenagers aged between 4 and 18. More than 500,000 contestants from over 30 countries participate in WER contests on a yearly basis.
This championship is rather prestigious and it is believed that the winners of WER world championships bring tremendous honour to their school and country. This year, the championship was conducted on 18-19 Nov 2017 at Shanghai, China.
A team of two students from the school, Pranav Sharma and Somansh Gupta of Class VII, represented the school in China. They were accompanied by Mr. Tej Prakash Pandey, the School Administrator.
Commenting on the participation in World Educational Robot Contest (WER), Vinay Goyal, Managing Director, SRS International school, said: ‘It is a matter of great pride for the school and the country as our team won the ‘Best Video’ Award and certificates in the contest. The award is the result of the hard work, efforts, and fearless spirit of our dynamic duo. The school couldn’t be prouder of them both!’
The icing on the cake was the grand felicitation by the Robotics team of Mr. Pandey who was then requested to present the awards to the winners. It is not just the students but also the worthy staff of our school that makes us hold our head high.
