TRUEGREEN – A Sustainable Saviour to Karnataka’s Plastic Ban

image1Bangalore, 28 April 2016: India’s first and only dedicated facility for manufacturing compostable plastic-free products, Greendiamz Biotech Ltd believes in real-world sustainability powered by innovation and technology. Working passionately to create products that do not harm the environment or animals or our marine species. Greendiamz uses renewable resources such as corn starch and other compostable materials to create eco-friendly alternatives to conventional petro based plastic that are strong, stable and flexible and cost effective.

A blessing in disguise, Karnataka’s complete ban on plastic and plastic products has spurred its residents to evolve and adopt compostable alternatives to conventional plastic bags, carry bags and other products. Offering an environmentally smart range of compostable bags and other alternatives, Greendiamz introduces TRUEGREEN— Govt certified Compostable products. TrueGreen hopes to play a pivotal role in encouraging environmental conservation in the state and beyond, adding a green footprint to the India’s ecological movement.

Know the law

The recently issued Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016  gazetted by the MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE in India, states that the use of compostable bags and products are allowed and the provision of thickness is not applicable when it comes to  bags and products made from compostable materials. Greendiamz has also received an approval for selling and marketing compostable products in India from Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) as mentioned in the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, (Section 4H).* The company has also received official approval from pollution boards of different states to sell TRUEGREEN compostable products where plastic is banned, offering an resourceful, ecological solution to the plastic crisis.

Behind the innovative products

It took six years of research to bring TrueGreen products from the sketchpad to reality. Apart from state-of-the-art innovation development that it took to create and design these sustainable plastic-free products, TrueGreen’s range has also been tested and certified according to European standards getting these products the EN13432, ASTM 6400 and ISO 17088 certification as well as the certification of the Indian standard for compostable products IS 17088.

And what’s the one thing that the company is proud of in this revolutionary journey? Simple: Each part of a TRUEGREEN product is compostable! One hundred per cent environmentally friendly and edible to the planet, these products, once used and disposed, either decompose on their own or are broken down once they come in contact with the soil,Humidity, water and micro organisms in the environment within just 180 days. All this, of course, takes place without leaving behind any toxic residue. This helps convert the decomposed product to compost or manure that in turn improves the quality of soil—encouraging agriculture and positively impacting the environment. TrueGreen’s products cause zero stress on our environment, which is already at a critical stage of being overwhelmed by human waste management.

Another advantage is that this TRUEGREEN earth friendly solution is available in different states where the Indian government has imposed a plastic ban without disrupting the existing plastic manufacturing industry. How? The existing plastic production machines can themselves be utilised to create compostable products, thus ensuring zero unemployment and no additional investment for the existing industry setup.

TRUGREEN’s revolutionary earth friendly offerings are also bringing about a sea change in the attitudes of individuals and big businesses across the globe. With sustainable alternatives at the ready, corporate firms are also now supporting the government in their initiative of banning plastics in different states. It is no surprise that TrueGreen compostable products have already been welcomed by big corporate companies and retail chains in India and overseas with open arms including UK, Mauritius and USA.

Deepak Sangghvi, Managing Director, Greendiamz Biotech Ltd said “I appreciate the Karnataka government’s decision to ban plastic. We have damaged our environment to such an extent that we have reached a point of ecological crisis—we have to give back to Mother Nature or suffer the consequences. Compostable products are the first step in our journey to do just that. As the best alternative to conventional petro based plastic products, the use of compostable products has even received the official gazetted seal of approval by the Ministry of Environment and Forest. Another important facet of TrueGreen’s compostable range of products is that it will help the plastic industry not be affected by the ban since Compostable products can be produced at their current manufacturing facilities without any new investment. As a partner in sustaining the environment, I invite all those who understand the impact this can create to join hands with us and become Green Warriors! I request each conscientious citizen of the country to support and respect the government’s plastic ban and do his or her bit to protect and save the environment for coming generations”
