Mother, through you, we become the men of tomorrow – Conceptualized by Promila Jain Bahri and sung by Viraj Bahri
New Delhi- 17thJanuary 2014: In a moment when the nation is rife with talks of women’s safety, security and respect, Promila Jain Bahri singer, entrepreneur and art aficionado, presents an iconic version of ‘Vande Mataram – Re Strung. Sung by her son Viraj on the strains of his guitar, the song links the issue of ‘respecting women’ to the way a little boy is brought up by his mother as the man of tomorrow.
Through Viraj’s voice, Promila’s soulful verses’ and a riveting video the song drives this message very clearly home.
The music video was launched by sufi exponent and the very vibrant Ambassador of Incredible India UstadMaa Zila Khan on 17th January at Zerruco Zilli. She is a mother of an accomplished son, singer and teacher; Zila believes that initiatives like these connect the nation to the very crucial cause of nurturing and respecting women.
Promila Said, It’s a need of the hour – when crimes against women take up most news space, where respect for each other as humans is dwindling; where everything around us suffers in order to accommodate our survival. The message though Vande Mataram Restrung is to understand that men were born to a mother and they will be consigned in the end to mother earth so they should learn to respect them. The video is positive, encouraging and heart warming.I believe that the psyche of chauvinism in a male is directly linked to his upbringing. The songsimply depicts how the man of tomorrow will carry forward the sanskars and values that his mother instills in him today.
Virja Added, Vande mātaram Re Strung is the first contemporary version with the official lyrics by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. I feel even though the older version is beautiful, but it’s tough for youngsters to sing or play. This version is to the times and has a recall value. I love it. I expect to revive the song and the spirit of Vande Mataram by this single of mine.
