The memorial service for Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Berthold Beitz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation and Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ThyssenKrupp AG, will take place at Villa Hügel on September 26, 2013, which would have been Berthold Beitz’s hundredth birthday. It is being organized by the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach Foundation and ThyssenKrupp. German President Joachim Gauck will pay tribute to the life and work of Berthold Beitz. Music will be performed by Daniel Barenboim with the members of his young West-Eastern Divan Orchestra.

It was Berthold Beitz’s wish to celebrate his hundredth birthday with Essen citizens, employees of the Group and institutions close to Krupp at a jazz matinee in the Philharmonie Essen on September 29, 2013. His family will now be inviting guests to this event.

A private funeral service will be held this week for family and close friends. The family asks that their privacy be respected.
