ITM University, Gurgaon holds International Conference on Emerging Trends in Computational and Applied Mathematics (ICCAM)

itmGurgaon, 12 June, 2014: With a view to bringing together practitioners, scientists and students to focus on emerging trends in computational and theoretical Mathematics, ITM University, Gurgaon organized a two-day International Conference on Emerging Trends in Computational and Applied Mathematics (ICCAM) recently.

The role of Computational Mathematics is gaining ground as it is helping to find reasonable solutions to complex situations.

The conference provided a forum for exchange of ideas and insights by mathematicians, mathematical scientists, and researchers. It helped them share fresh perspective on problem-solving in current research areas in Mathematical Sciences; discuss various computational and mathematical modelling approaches in the areas of health, education, finance, environment, engineering, commerce and industry; and promote networking opportunities among experts in various disciplines of Mathematical Sciences.

The conference saw the presence of Prof MM Chawla, Fellow INSA, Former Head Department of Mathematics, IIT Delhi, who was the Chief Guest, at the forum, while Prof Karmeshu(Bhatnagar Awardee), Professor, JNU, New Delhi was the keynote speaker.

Prof. B.S Panwar, Vice Chancellor, ITM University said, “The forum has immensely benefitted our students who are pursuing careers in these areas, which combine statistics and computer science, such as machine learning and theory of algorithms. It is an intensive subject and it will prepare students for doing work in applied or computational mathematics and mathematical sciences.”

The conference was attended by over 80 delegates from India and abroad. There were delegates from Malaysia and the US and papers had been received from a host of other countries.

A total of 105 papers were received out of which 80 papers are being presented at the Conference Conference was attended by over 80 delegates from across the country and abroad. About ITM University Gurgaon :

ITM University (formerly Institute of Technology and Management) was founded in 1996, to promote excellence in higher education by Educate India Society, registered under the Registration of Societies Act of 1860. The university was conceived in response to the acute deficiency of centers of higher learning in the country as also, the need to develop relevant human capital to meet the technology and management challenges of the 21st century. The founders had a clear and well defined mission – to build an unaided, self – financed university committed to delivering education of internationally recognized standards, a university that would go on to serve as an intellectual resource base in India and the sub-continent.

The university has collaborations with ITB (Ireland), University of Chester (UK), PukyongNational University (Republic of Korea) and Hogeschool van Amsterdam (The Netherlands), the University of Warwick (UK), Michigan Technological University (USA) and American Society for Quality.

ITM University has three schools namely, School of Engineering & Technology, School of Management and School of Law, offering UGC approved courses at UG, PG and Ph. D. level in all three schools. It has the distinction of being rated in the ‘Premier’ category by the reputed international rating agency: Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC), UK
