L&T Chairman Mr. A. M. Naik Conferred Higher Rank of Danish Knighthood

denmarkThe Embassy of Denmark is pleased to announce that Mr. A. M. Natk, Group Executive Chairman of Larsen & Toubro has been conferred the Otder of the Dannebrog as Knight First Class by Her Majesty, Queen Margrethe of Denmark. The knighthood is royal acknowledgement of Mt. Naik’s role in fostering Indo-Danish ties in the fields of business, commerce and culture. This honour represents a progression of the accolade that Mr. Naik received from the Queen of Denmark in 2008.

A formal investiture ceremony will take place in March 2015.

The Order of the Dannebrog is one of the world’s oldest Knight Orders, having been instituted in Denmark in 7611. Mt. Naik is also the Honorary Consul General of Denmark in Mumbai.

The Company that Mt. Naik heads was set up by two Danish engineers – Henning Holck-Larsen and Soten Toubro in 1938. Mr Naik has acknowledged the contribution of L&T’s Danish founders in laying the building blocks of what has become one of the most admired corporate entities in India today. Under Mt. Naik, I-&T continues to play an important role in furthering economic and cultural ties between Denmark and India.
