The two day event to feature David Lloyd, co-creator of ‘V for Vendetta’ and a host of other comic book artists along with an incredible music lineup
Bangalore, India, 27th January 2015: PUMA is celebrating the first anniversary of the PUMA Social Club in Indiranagar, Bangalore on the 31st Jan – 1st Feb weekend with ‘#KeepItReal Nights – The Legend of the Drawing Board.’ The celebrations will continue over two days with David Lloyd, the co-creator of ‘V for Vendetta’ along with a host of other speakers from the comic book community showcasing their work and talking about the industry. Both the days will also have a fantastic after party lined up with music acts by the likes of Shiva Sound System, Anish Sood and many more.
PUMA has collaborated with Homegrown for the weekend celebrations.
Day 1 will host talks by the internationally acclaimed artist David Lloyd, the co-creator of ‘V for Vendetta’. He will talk about how the graphic novel was conceptualized and the movement it incited supporting Internet freedom and freedom of speech. He will also talk about his current project of publishing an exclusive digital comic art magazine, ‘ Aces Weekly ‘ – www.acesweekly.co.uk – which features top talent from across the globe.
There will also be conversations with:
: Appupuen, a Bangalore based comic artist known for the ‘Halahala’ graphic novel series who will speak about his experiences in the Indian comic book industry and his recent creations.
: Pratheek & Tina Thomas, (ex-Manta Ray Comics) of Studio Kokaachi who will be discussing the process of how comic books come to life and their experience of being an independent publishing house in India.
: Alok Sharma, ex-comic book illustrator, writer, director and filmmaker who will be narrating about the evolution of the comic book industry in India from the 1940s till date and showcasing a glimpse into his documentary, ‘Chitrakatha – Indian Comics Beyond Balloons and Panels’.
Day 1 will see music acts by BLENT, Twokid Wickid, Fuzzy Logic and Anish Sood. On Day Two, PUMA Social Club gives platform to 15 comic book and graphic artists from Bangalore to showcase their work. It will also give an opportunity to event goers for a book signing session with David Lloyd. The after party on day two will have music acts by YourChin, Sanddunes and Shiva Sound System.
PUMA has successfully hosted various chapters of Keep It Real Nights. Editions in the past like ‘Collectors and Curators’, ‘Vintage Ad screening’, ‘evolution of EDM music festival’ at the PUMA Social Club have got the buzz going in the Bangalore community.
