Mumbai, 26th February, 2015- AVIAREPS, the world leader in tourism and airline management, has been appointed by PROMPERÚ (Export and Tourism Promotion Board) as its representative in India, to target the growing number of Indian outbound travelers to South America. With immediate effect, AVIAREPS India will be responsible for carrying out all Sales, Marketing, and Public Relations activities in India on behalf of the destination.
Commenting on the alliance, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) and President of the Export and Tourism Promotion Board (PROMPERÚ), Ms. Magali Silva Velarde-Álvarez, said “India is an important potential market for Peru to which we are beginning negotiations towards a bilateral Free Trade Agreement. Both countries are historically similar since they are land of millenary civilizations”.
On the other hand, Mr. Joseph Fernandes, General Manager, AVIAREPS India mentioned, “We are looking forward to introducing PROMPERÚ to the Indian travel trade. Peru is one of the most exciting and unique destinations one can visit and we at AVIAREPS will constantly focus on showcasing the best of Peru to the vast and continuously growing outbound Indian market.”
AVIAREPS India will work closely with PROMPERÚ to strengthen Peru’s position within the Indian travel trade and enhance its awareness in India. The tourism marketing and public relations firm will conduct training seminars for the travel trade and organize familiarization trips to Peru. It will function as PROMPERÚ’s press office in India, helping to increase awareness and generate interest in one of the leading holiday destinations in South America.
Peru is located in the west of South America, and has borders with Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Chile. Land of the Inkas, one of the millenary civilizations of the world, Peru’s greatest archeological patrimony is Machu Picchu, declared Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by the UNESCO and elected one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It also has been considered as one of the 17 mega diverse countries in the world by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), thanks to its geography, which divide the country by altitude into coast, mountains and jungle.
In the past 5 years, the percentage of Indian tourists in Peru has doubled and, during the last year it has increased by about 12% between 2013 and October 2014, according to PROMPERÚ’s official numbers.
