Minister Magali Silva: “Peru’s new international tourism campaign wins an award at ITB Berlin”

  • Spot ‘Peru, country of hidden treasures’, which premiered last January in Spain, won an Excellence Award.

Mumbai, 17th March, 2015: Magali Silva Velarde-Álvarez, Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and President of Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (Promperú), announced that the Peruvian campaign of international tourism won an Award Excellence of the Golden City Gate, under the category International – Regions, held in the framework of Fair Internationale Tourismus – Börse (ITB) in Berlin, Germany.

“This award is a recognition of our work and, at the same time a pride for all Peruvians because these awards are given to the best films, videos and short films presented in this important event, which is visited by thousands of tourism professionals from around the world”, she said.

Magali Silva also mentioned that this campaign called ‘Peru, land of hidden treasures’ was internationally released in Spain, at the 35th edition of the International Tourism Trade Fair (Fitur) with a very positive impact.

Under the slogan “Discover the you, you never knew, discover yourself in Peru”, the audiovisual piece shows landscapes, diversity, beaches, history, modern attractions and the soul of Peru from an intimate perspective.  It is divided in four parts, which narrate moving stories while introducing several tourist attractions, such as the rainforest of Amazonas, the coast of Lima, Machu Picchu, The Nazca Lines, among others.

The Minister also indicated that a Peruvian delegation of 36 companies participated in the tourism fair ITB 2015, the most important of Germany, which this year celebrated its 49th edition, and ended on March 8 with estimated potential business nearly three million dollars for Peruvian tour operators.
