March 19, 2015
Montegrappa, a leading luxury lifestyle brand and the oldest Italian manufacturer of fine writing instruments, has announced the worldwide launch of a new commemorative Armenian pen, ‘Erebouni,’ from March 19 to March 23, 2015 at BaselWorld in Switzerland, the world’s biggest Watch and Jewellery fair. The release of the limited edition pen will be accompanied with the launch of a book entitled, ‘Rebirth Towards Eternity.’ For each piece sold, a donation will be made to a foundation that provides funding for deserving students and undergraduates in need.
‘Erebouni’, which takes its name from the ancient capital city of Armenia, exemplifies the country’s rich cultural heritage. The collection is available in three lines- Erebouni HOKEVOR (the Armenian word for Spiritual) is the most exclusive line limited to only 100 pieces of Fountain pens in Silver and Gold, Erebouni HAVERJ (the Armenian word for Eternal), which comes in Fountain Pen and Roller Ball option, limited to 1,915 pieces, and the Erebouni KRAGAN (the Armenian word for Literary) an unlimited edition of fountain pen, roller ball and ball pen in black etched resin with Rose Gold trim. The project was developed based on a concept from two prominent members of the Armenian community in the UAE; Dikran A, Tchablakian and Krikor K. Jabourian.
“We are proud to be part of the team that has designed and created ‘Erebouni,’ which personifies all things Armenian,” said Dikran Tchablakian. “From its intricate design to the key Armenian elements, this limited edition pen not only showcases the country’s colourful history and rich culture but also represents a world-class, high-quality writing instrument that collectors must have. Montegrappa, was the perfect partner to work with on this project, as they are true artists and understood the depth of the emotion and the historic significance of the occasion.”
“Montegrappa is happy to announce the release of the ‘Erebouni’ collection,” said Giuseppe Aquila, CEO, Montegrappa Italia. “The theme, ‘Rebirth Towards Eternity,’ shows evidently in every detail. The artist Koko Garabet Sakayan contributed to the design of the pen which is infused with key symbols of Armenian culture such as the pomegranate, which symbolises life, the ‘Wheel of Eternity’, which symbolises continuity, the Church, the Crane, Mount Ararat, the Eternal Flame, the Dove and a single tear-drop on the signature clip, representing grief, and it’s memory. These symbols combined, describe a wide range of emotions from suffering, hope, rebirth and survival of a nation. It is the first time that all of these elements have been represented together on a single piece of Jewelry.
“The ‘Erebouni’ pen is a proper tribute to Armenia—the country and its people. We are confident that this new model will be well-received by pen connoisseurs and collectors reminding them of the bittersweet and nostalgic memories of the Armenian life” said Krikor K. Jabourian.
“The Armenian Community is indebted to Dikran A. Tchablakian and Krikor K. Jabourian for creating this historic masterpiece. These precious writing instruments that have captured the history, the glory and the sorrow of our beloved country, will be cherished by those that own them and will be passed down to future generations. The launch of ‘Erebouni’ will benefit a lot of deserving students, helping them fund their studies,” concluded Rev. Fr. and Dr. Mesrop Topalian the author of the book “Rebirth Towards Eternity”.
