AccorHotels announces the latest batch of future leaders, with 15 graduates having just completed its International Hospitality Management Program (IHMP) for Asia Pacific. IHMP is AccorHotels answer to fast-tracking the career progression of high-potential individuals and every year sees participants put through a rigorous process of training that will help them become General Managers more quickly.

For over fifteen years, IHMP has played an important role in the career development of the General Managers in AccorHotels. The program comprises a blended approach that includes a 21-day classroom training session, 16 self-paced e-learning courses and several virtual classrooms as well as indepth mentoring. The final assessment saw participants presenting a major project to a panel of senior executive leaders from AccorHotels Asia Pacific. These projects included such varied topics as customer-centric security, multi-skilling teams, strengthening the talent pipeline, digital marketing and improving the leisure ambience at resort hotels.

“Some of our best General Managers today have come through the IHMP program over the years,” said Christine Rumble, Vice President Learning & Development, Accor Asia Pacific. “We have found that participants really value the opportunity to combine on-the-job experience with classroom learning and networking with international colleagues who are also undergoing the program. It is a great way for us to recognise and reward talent within the organisation and ensure the development of our talent pipeline for the future.”

“The excellent classroom sessions organized with highly motivated trainers and instructors along with well-matched online training sessions and powerful networking with international classmates during the course made IHMP an awesome journey with AccorHotels,” said Michael Shumacher, Director of Operations, Pullman Lijiang Resort and Spa, China who just graduated.

Ms Chidchanok Pasingpong, Director of F&B at Sofitel So Bangkok also just completed the course and said it was a great learning experience and one that has brought her closer to achieving her career dream of becoming a General Manager.

“IHMP is a fantastic journey that has brought me to a group of equally ambitious individuals,” she said. “It is a journey that was enlightening, challenging and unforgettable.”

The International Hospitality Management Program is a key element of the AccorHotels human resource and talent management strategy to continuously develop and nurture future leaders in the group. Some of the learnings presented in the graduates’ final presentations will be implemented across the group and graduates will be placed in roles that will take them to the next step in their careers.
