New Delhi, July 16, 2015: Dzukou Tribal Kitchen, the well-known Naga Traditional restaurant in Hauz Khas market, Delhi celebrated Tuluni Festival- the most significant festival celebrated by the Sumi Naga tribe of Nagaland in traditional fashion. A day long programme of food & music was on the floor to celebrate the festival with splendor and grandeur.
On the day of the festival, Naga Thali along with traditional Rice beer was served. To celebrate the festival in a unique way, there was also a meat (pork) eating competition. This competition was open for all. Tito Sema from Nagaland was the winner of meat eating competition.
During the Tuluni Festival in Nagaland, a goblet is made with the leaf of plantain, to serve the rice beer. Tuluni is the name of this wine that is consumed by the Sumi tribe. To make the celebrations much more joyous, it is during the Tuluni festival that the fiancé is invited over to the fiancée’s place and the young couples exchange gifts. Engaged couples get married and start their new lives and all are fed lavishly with meat and other delicious food. There are folk songs that are sung to keep the spirit of the festival high.
