Triumph riders to take a pledge to contribute towards girl child education through ‘Ride for Freedom’ campaign
August 11th, 2015, New Delhi: To commemorate the 69 years of India’s Independence, Triumph Motorcycles, the iconic British Motorcycle manufacturer, has partnered with Smile Foundation to support the cause of girl child education. Education provides freedom to mankind and India would be truly Independent when its girls get their right to education. Triumph Motorcycles’ ‘Ride for Freedom’ is a pledge in the same direction.
Triumph Motorcycles, which is closing 2000 customers in India, is going to ‘Ride for Freedom’ this Independence Day across all twelve dealerships in the country.
Smile Foundation has been doing exemplary work towards healthcare, education and livelihood of children along with undertaking women empowerment programs. As part of the ‘Ride for Freedom’ campaign each participating Triumph Rider will also take a pledge of donating a sum ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 4,200 that will provide for education expenses of a girl child through Smile Foundation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India said, “Girls are still not allowed to right for education in many parts of India. True Independence is when all citizens can enjoy all the fundamental rights of our country. As India enters into its 69 years of Independence, Triumph Motorcycle owners will Ride their bikes to pledge for this Freedom.” He further added, “In Smile Foundation, we found that perfect partner who felt the same for the girl child in India and we hope that this small contribution will be a catalyst to encourage others towards providing elementary education to the girl child.”
“This is a very heartening gesture by Triumph Motorcycles India, who have come forward to join hands with us on this Independence Day for the noble cause of providing education to a girl child belonging to the less privileged sections of the society. The Independence Day would not really find its relevance unless girl children attain freedom, which can solely be achieved through quality education. Here, we would also like to thank the Triumph Riders in anticipation of their generosity and making it an ‘Independence Day’ for the girl children, quite literally.” said Mr.Vikram Singh Verma COO Smile Foundation.
The ‘Ride for Freedom’ will take place in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Kochi, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Indore, and Jaipur. The rides will be flagged off from the Triumph Dealership of the respective cities and will culminate back at the dealerships.
