The sheer convenience and variety offered by ecommerce has been instrumental in leading to a great increase in Rakhi shopping this year compared to last.

Close to 50% of male respondents are willing to spend between Rs 1000-5000 on gifts as desired by their sisters. While 75% of female respondents said they would buy gifts within the range of Rs 2000.

Chocolates/Cakes/ Confectionery is the favorite gift categoryamongst both brothers & sisters followed by Fashion Accessories. Also, Mobile Phones& Accessories as gifts are top ranked. Besides, 20% of male respondents have opted for ‘’Giving Cash’’ to their beloved sisters.

 

  • FAVORITE E-COMMERCE SITE TO BUY GIFTS FROM

Marketplaces can pride themselves in offering varied products across categoriesat competitive prices. Amazon.in &Flipkart dominate as top ranked sites for buying gifts/rakhi online. Paytm&Snapdeal are the two other preferred sites among respondents. 67% of women prefer to buy Rakhi online this season.

 

  • BUY VIA WEBSITE OR THROUGH APP?

While smartphone users are increasing and retailers are pushing their APP model but still the Indian online shopper prefers to enjoy shopping via websites sitting on their desktop or tablet. A 60:40 ratio is witnessed when it comes to shopping via website than on APP.

 

  • PREFERRED MODE OF PAYMENT WHILE SHOPPING FOR GIFTS ONLINE à Payment by Credit Card/Debit Card still rules but e-wallets like Paytm have gained traction

More than 32% of total respondents prefer paying by their Credit Card/Debit Card. While plastic cards still rule; digital wallets like Paytm are fast becoming the preferred choice – 30% men and 26% women have optedfor the e-wallet gateway. The survey also reveals ‘Cash on Delivery’ as a favorite payment option for 28% of women.

 

  • Interestingly, the survey also reveals Vistaprint.inand ZoomIn.com as preferred sites for ordering Customized/personalized Gifts for your beloved.

***More than 50% of the respondents were of the age 18-24 and primarily from Delhi NCR, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
