21 December 2015, Hyderabad, India : Government of Telangana’s RICH programme is as ambitious as the T-Hub initiative that aims to link the research institutes, academia and industry along with venture capitalists, angel investors and incubation funds.
Speaking at the TiE, Hyderabad Integration Night at Falaknuma Palace after being conferred the TiE Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Champion Award by TiE-Hyderabad President Safir Adeni, IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said that the blue print for RICH (Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad) prepared by Indian Business of School is ready. Hon’ble Panchayat Raj & IT Minister, Shri. K T Rama Rao who could not attend the TiE Hyderabad Integration Night ceremony was conferred with the Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Visionary Award.
In his address IT Secretary Jayesh said RICH is now a doable idea and very timely, this confidence stems out of our T-Hub dream realization. The role of Government will be similar to T-Hub initiative wherein we will facilitate the induction of incubation centers in these 60 knowledge and academic institutes in the state for ideation and nurturing Researchers and entrepreneurs.
Addressing the gathering at TiE-Hyderabad ‘Hyderabad Integration Night” Safir Adeni President TiE-Hyderabad said we are a uniquely positioned city with vibrant startup momentum alongside 50+ strong knowledge institutions such as IIIT, IICT, DRDL, NIPER, IIT, BITS, ISB, UoH, ICRISAT, CCMB, JNTU and Osmania University that can immensely contribute to research and innovation dream of the city. The T-HUB realization has shown the way forward and Government of Telangana’s RICH platform is a timely catalyst for research and innovation growth.
IT Secretary said many of the institutions work in silos; there is very little intra institutional-industry collaboration that takes place. The Institutions are also not ready to meet actual needs of the industry. Many of the students who nurture innovation and startup dream end up without a logical conclusion. The role of RICH is to make these young entrepreneurs, researchers, innovators realise their dream in a fruitful manner within its incubation hubs.
RICH will encourage incubators, R&D in every institutions own premises. Its secretariat will also extend arm to mentor new ideas, innovations, technologies, products and services. The RICH Research to market fund being set up to fund startup and innovation will also be agile. Very shortly we will reach out to these 60 institutions to become members of RICH. We will also conduct seminar to actualize the roll out of RICH to raise awareness among these member institutions and their students about the program benefits he added.
Organizations like TiE, FICCI, CII, NASSCOM, Hyderabad Angel Investors, Venture Firms and other leading industry organization will have a major role to make RICH successful and realise its goal to make Hyderabad as the Innovation and Startup Capital of the country to fill gaps in the innovation-entrepreneurship-investment ecosystem.
Hyderabad Integration Night is the first step Safir Adeni, President TiE–Hyderabad said. We created this platform to facilitate collaboration, partnerships between Research and Academic Institutions, Business and Industry Organizations,, Policy Makers, Investors, Incubators, Startups and Entrepreneurs.
At the Hyderabad Integration Night held on Sunday Evening Awards at the majestic Falaknuma Palace were also conferred for achievers in the Hyderabad Entrepreneurs Eco Systems including the most promising startup, entrepreneurial leadership, Investor and Angel. Several TiE Hyderabad Chapter awards were also presented on the occasion.
TiE-Hyderabad also presented Secretary, Department of Youth Advancement, Tourism, & Culture, Government of Telangana, Shri. B. Venkatesham with a Special Award for his contribution and support for this initiative.
