24 December, 2015, Gurgaon: There’s good news for running enthusiasts in the city, especially those who hate to wake up early in the morning to exercise their muscles. A ‘Full Moon Marathon’ will be held in Gurgaon on Boxing Day to encourage the people of the city to take to healthy lifestyles in a major way.

The event is being organized by Run with Me Foundation while Columbia Asia Hospitals, Palam Vihar is supporting the event as a medical partner to ensure the midnight run remains healthy and no participant suffers any negative health consequences on what would be a chilling night run. The hospital’s officials will remain vigilant to provide the right health support to the marathoners.

The marathon will begin at 10 P.M. in the night and is likely to continue for four to six hours. Four different runs will be organized in the marathon – 10 Km, 20 Km, half marathon (30 Km) and the full marathon involving a vast distance of 40 Km.

“The interesting event is happening in Gurgaon once again and Columbia Asia Hospital feels proud on being associated with this revolutionary initiative. Encouraging healthy living and active lifestyles is one of the important responsibilities of the medical community, especially in today’s time when people have adopted unhealthy sedentary habits. Running boosts your body’s efficiency, strengthens bone density and muscles and is a good cardio exercise. It increases your life span while helping you control your weight. We are eagerly waited for 26th December and hope the event helped encourage residents of the city to adopt healthy lifestyles,’’ says Mahipal Singh Bhanot, General Manager, Columbia Asia Hospital-Palam vihar Gurgaon

The event will take place within Nirvana Complex in Gurgaon. It has received amazing response from the public and 25% of the total registrations have been done by womenfolk. As far as the 10 km night-time run is concerned, women have exceeded expectations with more than 50% registrations.

“We are overwhelmed by the response from the public. Even last time, the NCR runners were fantastic with their participation. However, this year the response has been nothing short of fantastic. We are glad the full moon marathon has surpassed the benchmarks of popularity and are eagerly awaiting the D-Day itself. Nearly 500 people have thus far registered for the event and we are hopeful that the numbers will witness an upsurge in the coming days. On account of safety concerns, support has been garnered from the Gurgaon police. Furthermore, the runners would be provided a head torch and reflective bands so that they can be easily identified by the vehicles,” says Coach Ravinder Singh from RWM Foundation.
