Singapore, August 18, 2016 – Rhys Challenger has been appointed General Manager, Mercure Singapore Bugis. Rhys first joined AccorHotels in 1996 and has since held various Front Office, Food & Beverage, Executive Assistant Manager and Hotel Manager positions across several hotels in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji, prior to taking on his first General Manager appointment at the Mercure Nadi in February 2008. Rhys then moved back to New Zealand in February 2010 as the General Manager of Mercure Auckland Windsor and held a dual role as General Manager of All Seasons Auckland in June 2011. He relocated to Asia in February 2012 and took on the role as Resident Manager at Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay, where he was subsequently promoted to Hotel Manager in June 2015.
As General Manager of Mercure Singapore Bugis, Mr Challenger said “It’s a fantastic opportunity to open the first Mercure Hotel in Singapore. The hotel is strategically located in the center of the Bugis tourist precinct behind the Bugis Plus shopping mall. I look forward to building a team of competent professionals to help me make its own stamp on the tourism industry in Singapore.”
