Mathura 1st September,2016:Nayati Multi Super Specialty Hospital Mathura today takesgreat pride in announcing to all that Dr. Nibhriti Das- Director, Department of Laboratory Medicine, at Nayati MSSH, received the Best International Day of Immunology award on August 23, 2016 at the 16th International Congress of Immunology (ICI) at Melbourne for the best campaign by the Indian Immunology society (IIS).
After receiving the Best International Day of Immunology award, Dr. Nibhriti said, “I am greatly humbled and honored to be receiving this award on the Day of Immunology which is meant to expand global awareness to Immunology and its translational implications.It is great to see thatThe International Union of the Immunological Societies(IUIS) and European Federation of Immunological Societies(EFIS) are working together to encourage national societies to participate in the Day of Immunology which falls on 29th April of every year and to promote the benefits of immunology research.”
Dr. Nibhriti Das from Nayati Multi Super Specialty Hospital Mathura was invited to chair a scientific session on auto-immunity on August 22, 2016 and presented her novel research on the genetic determinant of susceptibility to cerebral malaria on August 24,2016 at the International congress of Immunology at Melbourne. Her novel research work was on “Association of CR1 gene polymorphisms with severe malaria”. She identified a genetic trait, which can make some Northern Indians more vulnerable to the deadly complications of falciparum malaria. Genetic screening during falciparum outbreak or endemic will ensure timely medical interventions to save lives.
Dr. Nibhriti Das is the first Indian woman Scientist to be elected as the IUIS Council member. The valedictory talk of the ICI on August 26 was delivered by Peter Doherty, the Nobel Laureate. Dr. Nibhriti Das is the secretary IIS and played a vital role in the campaign, travelled country wide and delivered talks.A total of about 4000-5000 people participated from all the different parts of India in a total of 50 events organized under the banner of IIS to discuss new research and developments in the field of immunological science. This event was attended by the young students, researchers and senior scientists alike with great zeal. The participants got highly motivated to work as national ambassadors to promote Immunology education and research and its applications in preventive and therapeutic health care. The prize money of 2000 euro will go to the Indian Immunology Society.
